Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to set up a framework that supports a multisectoral approach to the humanitarian response for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), bringing together humanitarian, development, health workers, education, and social workers to equip and empower displaced persons in order to prepare them for re-integration into the society and shorten their period of displacement.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want to see a world where displaced persons are rehabilitated mentally, socially and economically; with access to mental healthcare, physical healthcare, education and economic opportunities, making them self-reliant and contributors to their host communities, the society and economy at large.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by People that have been forced to flee their homes, Host communities that have to accommodate displaced persons, Humanitarian & development agencies and Government.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Reduced dependency on humanitarian aid and improved self-sufficiency
Shorter period of displacement
Improved outlook for the future
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
At least 10% of displaced persons annually (190,000) no longer have need for humanitarian assistance.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
