Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to see the government create infrastructure and an enabling environment for the youthful graduates to get absorbed into the civil service and private sectors of the economy in a sustainable way.
It's all part of making a better world.
I'd love see a policy framework which supports youth economic empowerment programmes aimed at supporting graduates to get actively involved in nation building through offering placement in the public service internships and jobs as well as in the private sector of the economy.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by graduates from higher learning institutions who currently find it very difficult to transition into the job market due to shortage of opportunities. Secondly, improved public service and productivity in the private sector as a result of having the graduates engage in descent jobs according to their qualifications.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
A policy framework for meritocratic placement of graduates into internship and apprenticeship programmes in the pubic service.
Increased absorption rate of graduates into the private sector through intense public private partnerships with the government.
Increased per capita income of the young graduates, hence independence and self-sufficiency.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
.By successfully lobbying parliament to pass the bill creating an enabling environment for youth economic empowerment to be realized.
. Investing in adept research and submitting memorandum to the ministry of labour , ministry of public service, youth and gender affairs, and to the Private Sector Alliance of Kenya.
. Investing in effective communication and publicity of the policy via mainstream media.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
