Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to promote equality in the society, especially to opportunities such as education, employment and healthcare and to ensure that anyone can live their life on how they define it without having to receive prejudice from others. I am also passionate about youth participation and what I want to envision is having open doors for people with autism. I want to represent them and uplift their voices.
It's all part of making a better world.
It would be a better place because not only did I become an instrument into giving themselves another chance to give back to society and to work hard for their dreams but also this influences more acceptance for a wider diversity and how each human being, regardless of how they are represented normally are all equal and have the same rights to those fortunate. This develops a compassion for humanity.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the people with autism, their families and the organisations who support them. I do believe that we can start small/locally and focus also in different age groups to see what needs must be prioritised, why does it matter and how could my policy vision connect to people. I am not here for them to help me "win" but I am here to help them in spreading awareness.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Reduce unemployment
Help raise the percentage of students graduating
Make people understand how they could support them (education)
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I know that I have achieved my vision when people realise that no one should have poorer life chances because of the way they were born, where they come from, what they believe, or whether they have a disability. I would love to see this being taught in schools for young people, tackling the autism employment gap by the UK Government and getting more people to speak up and help elevate their voices.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
