Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to improve the quality of teaching by reducing the quantity of work we need to do. This is vital because teachers are leaving the profession, which ultimately has a negative impact on the most disadvantaged schools and learners.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want overworked teachers to do 10 hours less a week - I hope this will help them stay in teaching. The more teachers that stay in teaching, the better the quality of education that our disadvantaged children receive.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the teachers initially as their work life balance improves. The long term goal is that disadvantaged pupils will benefit, as more experienced teachers will remain in the profession.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Teachers reduce the hours of their working week.
Teachers feel greater job satisfaction.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
The first outcome will be measured using quantitative assessment - a simple comparison of minutes/hours at the beginning of the project and at the end of the project. The second outcome can be measured quantitatively using star ratings/scales, but also qualitatively using subjective comments about their stress levels and whether they feel their job has improved.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
