Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to improve educational outcomes for all students in the UK, regardless of their class, gender or ethnicity, to ensure all young people are given the same chances and opportunities to succeed.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want to reduce the attainment gap between ethnic minorities (focused on those who typically perform worse) and the working class, specifically, through trying to combat, and reduce the effect of, some of the barriers they face which can hinder their achievement.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by working class students and BAME students.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Reduce the attainment gap
Reduce the effect of material barriers on educational achievement
Improve post-18 educational opportunities for working class students, specifically encouragement of higher education
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I will measure the success of my vision through quantitative data e.g. statistics to show a reduction in the attainment gap, reductions in poverty, or increasing numbers of working class students in post-18 education. I will also use personal stories to highlight how the policy action has improved student's experiences and achievements at school.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
