Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to help solve the digital skills gap globally by sparking students' interest in digital skills through interactive, interest-led, events and groups; then working with those students to develop the digital skills they are interested in and need.
It's all part of making a better world.
Significantly more people will have the necessary digital skills for work, such as knowledge of big data. There will be increased equality in tech roles and at tech companies as interests are evenly distributed, ensuring skills are. There will be higher productivity in the economy as more people have higher-level skills allowing them to work more efficiently. People will become lifelong learners.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by employers as it will increase the supply of talented graduates and employees, likely lowering wages for specialists and increasing average efficiency across the organisation.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
50000 students with hard digital skills like coding
500000 students increasing their confidence and ability using digital tools
10000 underrepresented groupmembers into tech and digital roles
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Our vision will be achieved when employer confidence that grads have digital skills rises to at least 80% and when the percentage of gender/minority in tech roles fits the natural level (matches percentages that make up the workforce of the nation). This should also lead to an average productivity increase of 10%
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
