Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to help create a truly secular society, but through paradigms of education that are radically opposite to the current understanding of it. I want to be able to impart religious awareness education to the young, so they do not grow up fearing the 'other'. Since religion is not going away anywhere, the best thing to do is to try to understand it.
It's all part of making a better world.
Radical secularism and radical freedom to practice faith. Faith is always supposed to be a personal affair, the constant entanglements with the state notwithstanding. Since faith/religion is such a significant identity marker, it will never go away and neither will the truth about its diversity. The only way to melt differences is to learn. The more we know, the less we will fear those who don't resemble us
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by persecuted religious minorities. But given that any religion can be that demographic with a changed context, it stands to benefit everyone.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
No religious persecution
No differential treatment or discrimination
No loss of life or opportunities
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
If this model of secular religious awareness education succeeds, we will have subsequent generations in whose perfectly fair policies there shall be no hint of religious discrimination. There shall be no rioting, or walls, no phobia. I'm aiming for utopia, really.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
