Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?

I want to get rid of research and policy procedures within the NHS that are harming its patients as modern policy prioritises economists and policy makers who have had zero lived experience of the suffering illness can bring.
I saw a consultant being paid £500 plus VAT a day to do a report on extreme poverty. This is unacceptable and needs to stop.

It's all part of making a better world.

Experts by experience being trained in consultancy and paid equally as well as having equal recognition for their work in health & social care policy.
Funding models and evaluation methods being created alongside experts by experiences.
Psychological experiences will be documented in policy i.e if research always refers to patients as a "burden" on the NHS, how will that effect frotnline communication?

This is really going to help people.

The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the people who use the NHS. So, everybody. I think people forget that vulnerability and illness will affect everybody at some point.

It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:

More representation of paid experts by experience (paid as consultants) in policy/ research

Psychological aspects of how policy can affect a patient population are considered and written in reports.

Patients reporting less frustration and more understanding that expands outside of doctor-patient relationship.

I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.

I usually find out by collecting the letters and the gifts I receive from people I work for when they tell me how I've impacted on their lives. I don't understand why this isn't an accepted form of achievement. It's lovely.

Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
