Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to facilitate institutionalization of mentorship scheme for young researchers and capacity building. This will entail providing platforms for peer review mechanisms in terms of mentor-mentee relationship and impact assessment, and continuous capacity building in grantsmanship, research conceptualization, execution, and reporting.
It's all part of making a better world.
Positive impact on young researchers and enhanced capacity for achieving quality research outputs that address challenges within the immediate and larger environment and society, within the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This will contribute to the achievement of the UN target of "peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future".
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by young and senior researchers (mentorship is a mutually beneficial endeavour), my institution (University) and other institutions, communities in the immediate vicinity of institutions, the larger environment and society (Local Government, State and Country), and the world in general.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Increase in access to grants and fellowship opportunities.
Increase in the quality and number of academic publications and patents, individual and institutional visibility and ranking (national and global).
Increase in the rate and extent of engagement between academia and industry, and quality and number of resulting high impact products and services.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Through results of quantitative and qualitative assessments centred on the outlined outcome measures. The qualitative evaluation aspect will add human angle narratives of the impact of the actualization of the policy vision and attendant action(s).
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
