Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to explore the policies that are mitigating against sustainable relocation of communities after they have been displaced.
It's all part of making a better world.
My aim is develop a framework that will build on the existing policies, update the missing gaps in these policies by comparing them with successful similar projects of implementation and integration in other countries to create better sustainable living conditions for the displaced people.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the displaced communities who have been impacted by the misery created by involuntary relocation in the southern region of Nigeria due to extractive and development induced projects.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Create more awareness to the constant degradation on the environment, the livelihood and the social impact on the people due to the activities of these projects.
Policies that address inequalities, inaccessibility and development of the people post resettlements can be improved.
I believe that people can become self-sufficient when enabled, after these development induced projects have taken place. The after effect should be positive, accessible and sustainable.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I will measure my success when after the policy solution is decided upon, translated into a framework for action, then looked into formally and included as a policy for action within the stakeholders agenda.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
