Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to ensure that internally displaced persons everywhere are given better attention and empowered enough to return to their original homes. This will be achieved by first ensuring there is peace and security where they left. They should have skills to help them sustain themselves after the return.
It's all part of making a better world.
To have a world where there are no people displaced by conflicts from their homes.
To have a world where each person is skilled enough to sustain and provide for themselves and their dependants.
To have a world where children are not orphaned or women widowed by conflicts.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by farmers and others in the agrarian communities in Nigeria's middlebelt region which has for years been ravaged by conflicts and flooding. They people are mostly uneducated, unskilled, and among the poorest of the poor.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
1. Making internally displaced persons become educated and skilled labourers and employers of labour in the society.
2. Resettlement of internally displaced persons to their homes.
3. Peace, security, and prosperity among previously displaced members of the society.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I will know I have achieved my vision when internally displaced persons begin to get greater attention, especially from the government.
Also, the vision would have been achieved when these IDPs are resettled in homes built for them by the government or other organisations.
The resettlement will come after skill acquisition programmes have been organised for these IDPs.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
