Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to end economic inequality and promote social justice by making sure everyone in the UK has access to high quality education, extra-curricular activities and job opportunities to help break the cycles of poverty and violence, whilst also lobbying for more progressive and utilitarian form of taxation and public funding.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want to live in a world where everyone has the opportunity to go as far as their ability will take them instead a world in which wealth is the sole limiting factor in people's futures. I want to create career opportunities for those that don't have them, and a fair system of public funding to make sure those opportunities are never taken away.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the more disadvantaged people in society; those from backgrounds who are disproportionately impacted by wealth disparity and inequality, such as the disabled or BAME communities; those seeking to turn their life around, but without the means to do so; those living on the poverty line without a way out; and young people, whose futures are look increasingly bleak
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Increased public funding to support education and job opportunities, particularly in providing subsided higher education and widely promoted apprenticeships
A decrease in the number of (young) people living in poverty or unemployment in the UK
An increase in the number and promotion of community projects and extra-curricular activities in deprived areas
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I will know that my vision has been achieved when poverty and unemployment are on a steep decline proportional to increases in social mobility, and when every young person can get a job that allows them to afford the cost of living.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
