Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to embed diverse and inclusive patient and public involvement and engagement in medical research.
It's all part of making a better world.
All new treatments and vaccines will have been co-produced with patients and the public, ensuring they address unmet needs and have real-world relevance.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by patients, carers and their friends and families. By tackling diversity and inclusion, groups such as women and BAME communities may also benefit particularly from the implementation of this vision.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Increase in patient and public involvement and engagement activities as part of research and development processes.
Increased participation and engagement of groups currently under-represented in research, such as women, those from low-income backgrounds and ethnic minorities.
Better understanding of how to conduct patient and public involvement activities.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Improved efficacy of new treatments and vaccines due to their enhanced real-world relevance.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
