Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to contribute to creating a more balanced world where individuals understand the immediate effects of their actions and are equipped with an inherent sense of purpose and ownership for the things they do--both at individual and collective levels.
It's all part of making a better world.
The world will be a better place because it will be more full of people not just doing things, but doing things intentionally. They will be satisfied because they will expend their most important resources-- time and energy-- toward the things they actually care about. This will continue to instill a sense of purpose and drive even in adverse and challenging situations.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by those who are presently resource-deprived. Though the nature of the resources may be different across groups (i.e. material/immaterial), I think this can create change across multiple geographies and sectors of societies, especially societies where community-mindset has been replaced by a more individualistic, consumerist one.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
The active engagement and participation of individuals toward what they are doing
A sustained sense of ownership in individuals toward both success and failures
A mindset shift, which will reflect through practices, of grounding individual and community as equally important
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
By noticing how people turn up to their commitments; how they mobilize and support each other in situations outside of policymaking; what the shape of the social looks like-- is it perception as gleaned from media and news, or are people actively taking part in the challenges and joys of living in particular contexts? This can be monitored via stakeholder interviews, observations, social media, etc.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
