Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to change how people view mental health in Kenya. This is because in Kenya, mental health which is an invisible ailment is considered as a taboo and a curse. This is so misplaced in a country where the population and economy is growing gradually. My vision is to demystify mental health and help those ailing to heal and live a meaningful life. Health is wealth.
It's all part of making a better world.
After project implementation we will see more resources to curb mental health ailments. Institutions offering this services will be state of the art and will offer specialized treatments. The society will realize that it's just similar to other ailments and take action for their loved ones care and sake. The country will be empowered with more resources due to healthy workforce.
This is really going to help people.
Mental health does not have any age groups and affects all. I affects all classes of income that is the rich, middle class and the poor. No one is spared irrespective you live in the urban area, ranch, presidential palace and the rural areas. The vision will start with the grassroots and grow up to cater for the economically empowered since they can afford specialized support services.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Less ignorance levels among the society on Mental Health through content creation and publicity.
More resources channeled to support this crisis by the Government
Improved Mental health care services in infrastructure and personnel
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
By comparing statistics from Health multinationals from the program inception and comparing with the current statistics which will show by region - Kenya that there is an improvement.
I will also track the progress of the bill to increase fund which i will have forwarded to the electorate for action.
I will have links and paper articles of stories covered by the media on the vision.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
