Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to change healthcare policy in my country so it is more inclusive of patient rights.
It's all part of making a better world.
I think that by altering policies in healthcare to specifically mention and include patient rights that a more patient centred approach can be taken in medical decision-making.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by patients of all ages and by healthcare practitioners who, by having a clearer set of guidelines for making healthcare decisions, can be safeguarded against legal action.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Alter healthcare policy to include patient rights as key factors for healthcare decision making
Change healthcare decision-making procedures to include patient rights
Trained staff that can implement the policy
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
If I can get buy-in from different healthcare organisations (medical council, nurses organisation, hospital groups, etc) and I can incorporate their input into the policy, I will be able to change policy. I will know my vision has succeeded if policy and practice for healthcare decision making changes.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
