Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to build an inclusive economy by encouraging cooperative ownership of small businesses in West Yorkshire, an area with high unemployment of young people and a lack of skills training that was once provided by now defunct heavy industry. We have to build a local economy that is inclusive of the needs of a range of different stakeholder groups that will provide employment and education.
It's all part of making a better world.
Ensure that public sector money and involvement leads to the development of successful cooperative-owned businesses that operate on a model that allows for the reinvestment of profits to secure the long term future of employees, both in terms of work, but also life skills and educational opportunites.
This is really going to help people.
People aged 18-30 in the Huddersfield area of West Yorkshire.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
A diverse and inclusive local economy based on cooperative businesses
employment opportunities for 18-30 year olds
Increased life long learning and educational opportunities
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Growth of inclusive businesses as evidenced by quantitative evidence of year on year growth in the cooperative small business sector.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
