Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to bring dignity and better outcomes for people with mental disorders. I don't think they are skewed or "weaker part of our society" but as the gifted ones.
I want them to be treated effectively in community settings rather than hospital/asylums/institutional settings
I want to optimise the usage of latest digital technologies for the utmost benefit of people with mental disorders
It's all part of making a better world.
People can easily find supports for their mental condition in more humane and accessible ways. No more stigma and the world will become happier. Economically, people can be more productive when they get psychological support whenever they need it.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by people with mental disorders, both those with the "common mental disorders" (such as depression and anxiety, yet not less suffering than the severe) and the "severe mental disorders"(schizophrenia and other psychotic spectrum disorders)
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Accessibility
Affordability
Quality
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Quantitative study = less treatment gap of depression and anxiety in the community/primary care level
Qualitative study = success story of people with mental disorders being treated in community/primary care settings
More competent and collaborative primary healthcare team: Family Physicians, Community Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, Case Managers, Occupational Therapists
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
