Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want to bring about democratic reform, enabling greater citizen participation in decision-making and ensuring the Greek origins of the word democracy, "power to the people", are truly upheld in modern day Britain.
It's all part of making a better world.
Citizens will have more opportunities to participate in political decision-making and politicians will be held to greater accountability. The second chamber of parliament will be reformed to include an elected element and the voting system at general elections will be made fairer. Additionally, at local and regional levels, the electorate themselves will decide where money is spent.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by citizens (specifically, part of the electorate), politicians, councils, the civil service, parliament and the people of the UK.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Increased satisfaction in political leaders
Increased engagement in politics
Increased trust in politics
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
Electoral turnout, opinion polling, logging of participation in Participatory Budgeting and other initiatives.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
