Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?

I want to advocate for the Kenyan government to invest in small scale agriculture which has been proven to be eight times more effective in contributing to development compared to other sectors. Whereas 70% of the Kenyan population are small holders who produce 80% of the food, they often go hungry themselves. Investing in this group often left out in budget making process will help achieve this.

It's all part of making a better world.

My policy objective is to end hunger among small scale farmers by ensuring they have enough for consumption and surplus for sale.

This is really going to help people.

The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by small scale farmers who will receive adequate budgetary allocations to increase productivity and commercialize their operations. These farmers are mostly in the rural areas.
The government will also benefit due to increased revenue from tax collection, contribute to GDP growth and lower unemployment levels.

It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:

Increase to 10% budgetary allocation to agriculture with small scale farming being a priority

Reduce the number of food insecure small scale farmers to insignificant numbers.

Increased productivity of small scale farmers.

I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.

I will measure my success by collecting and analyzing data on budgetary allocations to agriculture (small scale farming) for a number of years, increased productivity of small holders and growth in the GDP as a result of the intervention. Finally, I will use case studies of success stories from beneficiaries of the policy.

Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
