Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want those in power to pay attention to the people they claim to serve. I want the quietest voices to be heard to the loudest and for all people to feel represented in local and national government.
It's all part of making a better world.
All local and national governments will be made up of an accurate representation of their constituents in gender, race, religion, sexuality and disability. This will enable a move towards policies which are embedded in the experiences of the people they aim to help and are therefore more likely to be successful.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by minority groups who have been historically under-represented in politics. Women, people from BAME communities, LGBTQ+ people and people with disabilities are likely to see the most benefits.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Greater diversity in political representation.
Policies devised by, and for, minority groups.
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
The main change which everyone would be able to see would be the greater diversity in governmental repersentation. Following on from that we can expect to see reductions in income inequality, closing of the academic attainment gap and greater diversity across many professions.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
