Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I want Nigerians to adopt children.
I want people to see the concept of families and parenthood in Nigeria to include by definition children who are not biologically theirs. Children of the state.
I want the government to create enabling laws and policies that make the process less tiresome for prospective adopters, adoptees and even, government workers involved in this.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want the government to approve the setting up of licensed Adoption Agencies to help with the bureaucracy and to reduce the length of time before children are placed with families once formerly adopted .
I also want the approval of funded Adoption Institutes in each state to keep records and sustain studies on adoption in Nigeria and Africa.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by children of the state, infertile couples, unmarried singles, biological parents, the government, myself.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
More enlightenment about adoption
Creation of Licensed Adoption Agencies and an Adoption Institute for research and record keeping
When Nigerians in Diaspora can adopt children through these agencies
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
1. When adoption is discussed continuously and seriously, it becomes mainstream and ceases to become a taboo.
2. When adoption agencies are established and people actively study the concept to make it an enduring policy.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
