Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
I see a future where young people will complete school with many small qualifications which in conjunction with formal education will make all students (and later, jobseekers) more employable and their skills more easily spotted.
It's all part of making a better world.
This will make employing the young, and the older, and the tracing of peoples careers easier and make the workplace more democratic as the microcredentials which are assigned cannot be assigned on the basis of nepotism.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the disadvantages and those who are unemployed, employers who wish to avoid bias, and the general population who wish to see (through microcredentials) what people have achieved and what other positives they have earned through other social actions.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Improved social mobility (measurable by youth/student/school leaver employment outcomes)
Improved employment equity (this policy would work with current anti-discrimination legislation)
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
I would know that my vision has been achieved when students and school leavers are finding positions and work, or starting their own businesses in lower socioeconomic areas based not necessarily on academic scores alone or on the basis of nepotism, but on students credentials and on the basis of truly who is best for the job.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
