Hi there. Can I tell you what I dream of doing?
Due to the heavy focus on engineering in most water sector policies; the integration of social concerns is challenging and it is not uncommon that gender issues are seen as irrelevant or marginal. The percentile of women participating in policymaking of water governance in Lake Chad is very low- the policy I want to see is the inclusion of women in policymaking of water governance in Lake Chad by 2025.
It's all part of making a better world.
I want women to be given a chance to participate in the decision-making of water in Lake Chad Basin at all levels (grassroots, national and international). The more women are involved the more innovations of sustainable water use are achieved.
This is really going to help people.
The impact of my vision will be mainly felt by the women of Lake Chad Basin at all levels.
It's not just about having an idea though - here are the things I know I can achieve:
Gender awareness and education in Lake Chad Basin
More women as policymakers in Lake Chad Basin
Sustainable practices of water usage in Lake Chad Basin
I'm going to make this happen, and this is how I know it'll make a difference.
When there is a shift from traditional methods to more adaptable methods of including women in decision-making about water by disregarding cultural norms/barriers.
Thanks for listening to me. Will you help me build a better world?
